Cosmos Hotel Group, a leading federal hotel operator, has become the first in Russia to introduce biometrics check-in technology to a hotel. The instant registration service "Migom", created by the Center for Biometric Technologies (CBT), is already available to guests of the Cosmos Moscow Paveletskaya Hotel.
Russian citizens using the Unified Biometric System can now check into a hotel without a passport. To use the Migom service, you need to register your verified biometrics in a Single Biometric System in advance. This can be done at branches of authorized banks throughout the country. The full list of registration points can be found on the portal of Public Services or on the website of the Bank of Russia.
The Cosmos Moscow Paveletskaya Hotel became the first hotel to connect to the Migom service. Now, hotel guests who prefer digital services can check in without presenting their passport to the reception staff or filling out paper documents. To check into the hotel using biometrics, it will be enough to look at a special terminal at the reception desk.
The Migom service will significantly speed up the service of guests, as well as reduce the burden on hotel staff, which is especially important during the high tourist season. Thanks to the use of biometrics, the duration of the registration procedure will be reduced from 3-5 minutes to 15-20 seconds. At the same time, the guest will always be able to choose how to register – by passport or by biometrics.
Checking in without a passport is an alternative, the usual registration methods remain available to all guests.
"Together with our partners and with the support of the government, we have managed to implement a truly unique project. For the first time in world practice, the integration of the state biometric identification system with the hotel infrastructure has been carried out. We expect that the new service will be of equal interest to both citizens and industry representatives. For some, it will make their stay at the hotel even more comfortable, for others, it will open up new opportunities for improving customer experience and business processes," said Vladislav Povolotsky, CEO of the Center for Biometric Technologies, operator of the Unified Biometric System.
"The introduction of biometrics technologies for hotel check—in is a strategic step in the digitalization of services in the hospitality industry. We are proud that Cosmos Moscow Paveletskaya Hotel became the first hotel in Russia to implement this solution in partnership with CBT and VisionLabs and connect to the Migom service. This technology not only increases the comfort of guests and saves time during check-in, but also allows you to optimize and improve business processes. The hotel welcomes almost 80,000 guests annually, and it is especially important for us to introduce digital solutions and services that make their stay as comfortable and technological as possible. I am confident that such digital services will create new quality standards in the tourism industry and open up prospects for scaling digital solutions in the industry," commented Alexander Biba, President of Cosmos Hotel Group.
Upon check–in at the hotel, the guest's biometrics are not transferred to third-party organizations, including the hotel. The identity verification process takes place exclusively in the contour of the state biometric system, operated by JSC "Center for Biometric Technologies" (CBT).
VisionLabs, an accredited and domestic developer of specialized software in the field of computer vision and machine learning, became the technical partner of the introduction of the settlement technology for biometrics. VisionLabs supplied a biometric terminal, a server with Russian software, and also configured integration with the Unified Identification and Authentication System (GIS ESIA) and the Unified Biometric System (GIS EBS).
"No system before that allowed you to check into a hotel just by looking at the camera, without providing documents and unnecessary actions. We have set up integration with the Gosuslug portal and a Single biometric system, created a secure contour and took care of a convenient personal account for the hotel. Now checking into a hotel using biometrics is as easy as paying for coffee by face," says Denis Studentsov, Director of Business Development at VisionLabs.
